Whilst it’s difficult not to have heard of artificial intelligence (AI) in this day and age, it might be harder to notice it in everyday life. Many may feel that AI has not impacted their everyday lives, however, it most probably has, and most likely for the better.
Below is a list with just some of the ways AI might have impacted your everyday life:
Unlocking Your Phone
Something most people will do day in and day out is look at their phone, and to do this, many current smartphone devices will require users to unlock their phone, using face ID. When unlocking your phone via face ID, the device will be using artificial intelligence to help perform this action.
For example, Apple’s FaceID uses invisible infrared dots to analyse the face trying to unlock the phone. It will then use machine learning algorithms to see if the face just scanned is a match with the face it has stored as the owner of the device, and will unlock itself based on this assessment.
Sending Messages
Sending emails is another part of many people’s daily lives, and one which has also been improved greatly through AI technology. When composing an email, there are now certain tools that can help to check its wording, and eliminate any grammatical errors. These tools can help people to achieve this through AI.

Additionally, AI can also be used to protect you from spam, helping your account to block suspicious emails, whilst certain software can protect your account from viruses with the help of machine learning.
Shopping
Artificial intelligence is also used in the retail sector, helping you to find more of the products you like whilst increasing sales for the business. Online retailers such as Amazon uses AI solutions and algorithms to learn about shopper’s personal likes and dislikes, and suggests other products for them based off of this information.
Amazon will now suggests a whole host of different recommendations on a user’s personal account, including books, beauty products, homeware items and more.
TV Entertainment
TV Entertainment is another area of many people’s daily lives that has seen major disruptions from AI technology. Whether you’ve got your own account, or use your family’s or friend’s, Netflix has become a go-to when sticking something on the TV. The streaming service offers up a variety of different series and films for viewers to browse through, and even recommends certain shows/films based off the user’s previous viewing history.

These recommendations are all generated through artificial intelligence, analysing favourite genres, actors, and even the time of day you’re watching these shows to help create a list of new potentials to watch next.
Travelling To and From Work
AI has become such an integral part of everyday life, it even helps us along our daily commute. Travel apps such as Google maps use artificial intelligence to help track a traveller’s route; monitoring traffic and suggesting ways around potential gridlock situations.
This has helped to improve the efficiency, and thereby experience, to many commuter’s travels to and from work.
Therefore, AI doesn’t just have a big presence in our everyday lives, it has also transformed them for the better, making travelling more efficient, devices more secure, and finding the stuff you like, be it shopping or entertainment, a lot easier.
