Operating at the cutting edge of Technology, Optalitix’s team of actuaries, data analytics team and developers spend most of their time creating systems and algorithms to learn and optimize business processes. This led me to think about how we apply our thinking to the way machines behave, but at the same time are coaching the machines to take into account cultural and geographic influences that impact our clients’ customers. What is it about our people that drives us to taking into account all of these differences, and how is it that we have successfully achieved this for our clients? It struck me, from looking around our office, that in a small company that punches well above its weight we have a staff complement originating from 8 different countries and speaking 10 different languages. It was never a conscious decision to be culturally diverse, we just decided to hire the best candidates for each role and we spent a lot of time making sure the candidates were the right fit. We look for people who we believe will deliver long term value, understand our vision and are hungry to learn. Oh, and they must have a passion for data! It seems the culturally diverse nature of a metropolitan city like London, and an office located in the culturally blind location of Camden Town, led us to this point. In today’s ever changing, dynamic, technology driven business environment, agile organizations are the ones that thrive. Especially those businesses that can respond to the global challenges of their often multinational customer base. A company with a multinational office environment will be quicker to understand, address and respond to the global challenges of its clients. Where we come from and what we have experienced influences the way we see the world, and at the same time influences the way we perceive and provide services to others. The Optalitix cultural fusion has most certainly contributed to the globally creative way we work with our valued global clients. We shout about giving dumb systems a brain at Optalitix, and only recently have I realized that a multi lingual, multicultural, geographically agnostic brain can only be delivered by a multi-cultural innovation driven team. It is a team I am very proud of.
